[English] , The Bushplane Museum is part of Sault Ste. Marie's rich story as a gateway to the north. Here, the earsplitting roar of engines and the race of pontoons across the water have been common place since 1924 when this site became the headquarters for the Ontario Provincial Air Services. It still operates as a water aerodrome for float planes. In 1987, the hangar began its use as the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre. , The aircraft on the pedestal to your left starts the fun. It's a Beech 3T and flew in remote areas in Ontario and Quebec. Many famous planes are inside with great exhibits and programs. Theatre seats are even from real aircraft! Climb a fire tower, see Algoma Country from above in the flight simulator, watch the 3-D movie "Wildfires", or explore the unique CL- 215 water bomber. Your visits to the centre will help support this important heritage site. , In the museum is the plane once called a "multi-ton flying fire truck". The Canadair CL-215 carried 12,000 litres (3170 gallons) of water per load, and one even dropped 225 loads in a single day! The plane on display had a red hot career, dropping over 20,000 loads.
