Tom Grieve. Playing Career: 1972-77. The ultimate "Mr. Ranger." Of his 44 years in professional baseball, 43 have been with the Washington/Texas franchise as a player, executive, and broadcaster. Selected by the Senators in the first round of the June 1966 amateur draft and made his Major League debut with Washington in 1970. Was a Rangers outfielder from 1972-77 with a .255 average in 562 games. Earned club Player of the Year Honors in 1976 with career bests of 20 homers and 81 RBI. Completed playing career with Mets and Cardinals before joining Texas front office in 1980. Served as Rangers General Manager from 1984-94, the longest tenure in club history. During that span, Texas acquired through the professional and amateur ranks much of the nucleus for the 1996-98-99 A.L. West Division Championship teams. Since 1995 has been an analyst on Rangers telecasts, the club's longest-running television announcer ever. Was the first recipient of the Harold McKinney Good Guy award in 1975 and was a repeat winner in 1994. Inducted July 24, 2010.
