1. Townsite of Old Farmer Marker
Inscription. Named for a missionary, Rev. William H. Farmer who camped here 1877. Later he had a general store; first postmaster, 1878. Town once had a school, 2 churches, a newspaper, 3 doctors, 17 businesses, a justice of the peace court. The old Farmer ranch house still stands.

Farmer is near the junction of Farm roads 1769 and 2652, eight miles northwest of Loving and sixteen miles east of Olney in northeast Young County. The community, originally called Brush or Brushy, was renamed in honor of Rev. William H. Farmer, who settled in the area in 1877.
