Inscription.
Picture 36 cannons and howitzers, 32 ammunition wagons, 27 tool carts, 7 powder carts, 2 traveling forges, over 24 tons of cannonballs and case shot, 300 artillerymen and 400 horses. Burgoyne's artillery force was an awe-inspiring sight. The Park, where much of this was stored, was located nearby.

To fire any 18th-century cannon in battle took more than just as trained team of artillerymen. Wheelwrights, blacksmiths, and other artificers stood ready to make needed equipment and repairs. Drivers handled big horse teams to haul the heavy guns, wagons, and carts.
Warley Camp: the Review (detail), by Philip James de Loutherbourg, RA, 1779.

Britain’s Royal Regiment of Artillery wore blue coats, hence their nickname “Blue Boys.” A Hessian officer called them “the tallest, strongest, and best-looking troops which can be seen in the entire world.”
