Excerpt (in translation): Oslo Handelsgymnasium, established in 1875, held its first years in Rosenkrantz' gate 7, then from 1885-1946 in Munch's gate 4. The new school was almost finished in the spring of 1940, but was only put into use in 1946.(Submitted on August 14, 2024.)
The school building's war history is unique - both the occupying power, the home front and the Allied leadership had their headquarters here. The German General Staff moved in at the turn of the year 1940-41. General Nicolaus von Falkenhorst, commander-in-chief until 1944, administered the occupation from the rector's office. On 1 February 1945, the Wehrmacht moved out and Reichskommissar Josef Terboven in. On 13 May 1945 the Home Forces took over the building, in June the Allies under General Sir Andrew Thorne. He had the formal power in the country until the King's return on 7 June.
