Inscription.
Standing here on October 7 you would have seen hundreds of survivors of the British probing force running back this way. They took cover inside the high log walls of this redoubt. General Poor's Brigade followed and attacked. General Arnold saw American forces moving against an enemy position north of here. He rode off to join them. Poor's attack here failed, and his troops withdrew.
