Walker Alumni House
Billie Sue Morecroft Walker '55 (1933-1997)
Charles Rayner Walker '52 (1930-2015)
Billie Sue and Charles Walker met at Lynchburg College, where they were both active in the concert choir. Billie Sue, originally of Jacksonville, Florida, graduated in 1955 with a BA in religious studies and went on to serve as the director of education at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Independence, Missouri. Charles, a native of Roanoke, graduated in 1952 with a BA in philosophy and then served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. After returning from active duty in 1955, he and Billie Sue married in 1957. Both taught in the Roanoke City School System, where Charles also served as a school principal and supervisor. After retiring, the Walkers spent their remaining years growing flowers and volunteering in the Roanoke community. We are proud to dedicate the Alumni House to Billie Sue and Charles Walker. It stands as a testament to their devotion to education, to Lynchburg College, and to each other.
