Inscription. The most prolific offensive performer in club history. Is the Rangers all-time leader with 372 home runs, 1180 runs batted in, and 713 extra base hits and ranks second with 3073 total bases and a .565 slugging percentage. Also places among the top five with 878 runs, 1595 hits, 320 doubles, and 1400 games. Hit 20 or more homers nine times with 40+ HR on five occasions, drove in 100 runs in seven different seasons and batted .300 four times. Holds single season club records with 157 RBI and 97 extra base hits in 1998 and a .643 slugging percentage in 1996. 1998 RBI total was most in A.L. since 1949. Was the BBWAA A.L. Most Valuable Player in both 1996 and 1998 and was selected as Rangers Player of the Year five times, matching the most ever. Started a pair of All-Star games and earned five A.L. Silver Slugger awards for Texas. Led the A.L. in homers in 1992 and 1993, slugging in 1993, and in RBI and doubles in 1998. Batted .438 with five homers in 1996 ALDS, the Rangers first playoff series ever. Posted 434 homers, 1404 RBI, and a .295 batting average in 1689 Major League games that also included stints with Detroit, Cleveland,
