Daniels Hill in Lynchburg, Virginia — The American South (Mid-Atlantic)
Point Of Honor
Point of Honor has been preserved and restored through the dedication and generosity of the Lynchburg Historical Foundation and the Katharine Garland Diggs Trust. Built circa 1815 by Dr. George Cabell, Sr., the house remained in private ownership until 1928 when it was purchased by J. R. Gilliam, Jr. and given to the City of Lynchburg for use as a neighborhood recreation center. In 1968 Point of Honor was acquired by the Lynchburg Historical Foundation which, in partnership with Central Fidelity Bank, trustee of the Diggs estate, restored the house and opened it to the public in 1977. In 1990 the Foundation conveyed the property to Point of Honor, Inc.
