Jeff Russell, RHP. Playing Career: 1983-96. The busiest reliever in club history. Is the Rangers all-time leader with 406 relief appearances and 251 games finished and ranks second with 445 total pitching appearances and 134 saves. Posted a 3.73 earned run average, 11th best in team history among all pitchers with at least 400.0 innings. Was selected to the American League All-Star team as a starter in 1988 when he won his first seven decisions. Moved into the closer's role the following season and led the A.L. with 38 saves. Established single-season club records for saves and games finished (66). Had a 1.98 ERA over 71 appearances and was named the A.L. Fireman of the Year. Was again an A.L. All-Star, joining Rich Gossage as the only pitchers at that time to earn All-Star honors as first a starter and then a reliever in consecutive seasons. Overall, recorded 20 or more saves four times with 30+ saves in two different seasons. Was traded to Oakland in August 1992 but returned to finish his career as a Ranger, appearing in 55 games for the A.L. West Champs in 1996. His 14-year Major League career also included stints with Cincinnati, Boston, and Cleveland. Inducted July 11, 2015.
