Inscription. This [distinct] French Colonial style residence was built by Henry Thoerner, a 28-year-old painter from Hanover, Germany. The only Frenchtown home with a hipped roof (original to the house) and a nine bay primary faηade spanning a galerie (porch). The southern three bays representing the first of two additions to the original six-bay house. The ground floor and foundation were constructed with fieldstone walls and it is unknown if this space was used for mercantile. The home was saved by a former owner and was restored using vintage photographs as a guide. The home's appearance has changed over its standing 170 years but its character has aged well!
