1. 709 North Fourth Street Marker
Inscription. This two-story brick Italianate was built by William Archibald Alexander (c.1850), who was mayor of St. Charles 1870-1871. In 1906, Peter Paul Wentker, prominent St. Charles doctor moved in. Later sold to St. Charles Borromeo Church and became the rectory. Has a low pitched roof, overhanging eaves with brackets, arched windows, a cross gable over main entrance and high interior ceilings.
