1. Kennett Sound Studios Marker, Side One
Inscription. Joe Keene designed, built, and operated a one-story, concrete block recording studio at this location beginning in 1971. More than 350 performers and dozens of backing musicians recorded country, gospel (Black and Southern), and rock music here and in an earlier studio. including nationally and internationally known recording artists Stephen Ackles (Norway), Mildred Pulliam Whitehorn (aka Veda Brown), Jack Campbell, Sheryl Crow, Narvel Felts, the McGruders. David Nail, Billy Lee Riley, John Wesley Ryles, and Trent Tomlinson. Offices for Keene's music publishing companies including a room for songwriters were also located here. The building was later converted into medical offices.
