West Mifflin in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania — The American Northeast (Mid-Atlantic)
The Lucky Stand
National Historic District
This was the last of Kennywood's landmark structures before the devastation of the Great Depression. The style of its 1930 architecture was referred to as Modernistic. (Or Moderne, if you prefer.) Nobody remembers why it was - and is - called The Lucky. Perhaps someone guessed that it would be a survivor. The structures and rides that were its neighbors in 1930 are long gone except the Turtle.
Erected by Kennywood Amusement Park.
