Brock was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1985 on the first ballot. The Lou Brock Hall of Fame statue was dedicated by the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium in St. Louis. He is the only player in the history of Major League Baseball to have an award named for him while still a player.
The Lou Brock Award is given each year to the National League player with the most stolen bases.
Brock, a math major at Southern University in Baton Rouge, La., is considered one of Major League Baseball's finest ambassadors.
