Born on 2-13-1922 and raised in Bardstown Kentucky

Graduated from West Point 1945

Served in the Korean War as a Company Commander and Regimental S3 (7th Div.)

Fought in the following battles
Pork Chop Hill, T-Bone, Alligator Jaws and Old Baldy

Served in the Viet Nam War as Lt. Colonel
He led the 7th Cavalry in the battle against the North Vietnamese Army (NVA) in the Ia Drang Valley November 1965.

Co-authored the book We were soldiers once…and young, which was made into the movie "We Were Soldiers"
