Das mittelalterliche Haus war vom 15. Jh. bis zur Gründung der Universität 1832 im Besitz des Chorherrenstiftes des Grossmünsters. Es diente als Chorherrenhof und zeitweise als Amtswohnung eines Pfarrers am Grossmünster.

Unter Denkmalschutz seit 1964

The medieval house was owned by the canons of the Grossmünster from the 15th century until the university was founded in 1832. It served as the canons' building and at times as the official residence of a priest at the Grossmünster.
