In einem der wenigen freistehenden Häuser der Altstadt aus dem 13. Jahrhundert verbirgt sich ein jüdisches Wohnhaus mit vermuteter Synagoge. Nach Aufhebung des Wohnrechtes der Juden 1423 erfuhr das Gebäude zahlreiche Umbauten.
1705 folgten unter Johann Heinrich Holzhalb die Neugestaltung der Fassaden mit Aussentreppe und Portal, Fenstern und Holzerker sowie ein Innenumbau. 1730 benannten die Familien Landolt und Escher das Erdgeschoss wurde im 19. Jahrhundert neu gestaltet.

(English translation:)
One of the few free-standing houses in the old town from the 13th century hides a Jewish house with what is thought to be a synagogue. After the Jews' right to reside there was abolished in 1423, the building underwent numerous renovations.

In 1705, under Johann Heinrich Holzhalb, the facades were redesigned with an external staircase and portal, windows and wooden bay windows, as well as an interior renovation. In 1730, the Landolt and Escher families named the ground floor, which was redesigned in the 19th century.
