"Shepler's Ferry" is artist Mallory Curtis's tribute to the Shepler family. Mackinac Island is a unique destination that brings its visitors back in time. It is rich in Northern Michigan history. Shepler's has been a mainstay in island transportation since 1945.

"Island life has always been at the center of my heart. Having grown up on Drummond Island, I felt it would be a great way to pay homage to a hard working three-generation family business. I wanted the Shepler family to be able to have a handmade memory of their legacy."

Mallory Curtis began painting at the very young age of eight. Upon graduating from Sault Area High School, she attended Kendall College of Art and Design, majoring in illustration. After college she managed an art gallery in Mackinaw City.

"I have traveled all over the United States and abroad and I am proud to call Northern Michigan home. I couldn't imagine living anyplace else. I find inspiration in the beauty of the Great Lakes, National Forests and the brilliant sun rises and sets. Everyday you are left with new and extraordinary scenery."

Mallory plans on opening her own gallery. "I want to be able to nourish beginning artists by helping them find their niche." She is currently teaching the Children's Summer Workshops for Mackinaw City Area Arts Council and serves on the board.
