Sinwell Tower
The round Sinwell Tower ("sinwell" is Middle High German for "round") was built in the late 13th century as the keep for the Imperial Castle. Today it is still the main representative tower of the entire complex. During the 1560s the upper level was raised by the projecting, cornice-like ashlar rings. From the observation platform 385 meters up, visitors have a broad view across the whole city of Nuremberg.
Erected by Bayerische Verwaltung der staatlichen Schlösser, Gärten und Seen.

Visitors prepared to make the ascent are rewarded by a breathtaking view of the old centre of Nuremberg. The Sinwell Tower also has an exhibition of photos showing the castle and city after destruction in the Second World War.(Submitted on September 6, 2024, by James Hulse of Medina, Texas.)
