Sheraden's war memorial was dedicated to citizens who served the United States in all wars throughout the history of the country. It sits on land that was formerly owned by William Sheraden, and was at one time among the most valuable farms in the Pittsburgh region. A new community formed around the farm, which led in 1894 to the incorporation of the Borough of Sheraden. Soon after, in 1907, it became part of the City of Pittsburgh.
