Dr. L.G. Noel
Sunnyside in Sevier Park
Dr. Noel lived in the house, renamed Idlewild, with his wife, Ms. Nannie Folwell, his eight children, and at least three domestic workers. After Ms. Folwell's untimely passing at age 36, Dr. Noel married Augusta Jonnard in 1902. Ms. Jonnard was an accomplished pianist, and used the house for music lessons and performances. Over the course of his ownership. Dr. Noel sold off 116 acres which were platted as the residential streets surrounding the current park. Dr. Noel died of pneumonia at Idlewild in 1927 and is buried at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
