Windsor in Bertie County, North Carolina — The American South (South Atlantic)
Railroad Depot Vault
The W&P ran between Windsor and Ahoskie in the early to mid-1900s carrying produce and passengers.
There was a hill on the trains route it often had trouble climbing. Passengers sometimes had to literally jump out and help push cars to the top. That led people to jokingly refer to the W & P as the Walk and Push.
The vault is all that was left standing when the depot was demolished several years ago.
