1. Iowa Cubs Marker
Inscription. The Oaks became the Cubs in 1981. With the same name and logo, the Cubs are affiliated with the Chicago Cubs. The Chicago Cubs came about their name in 1902. Chicago newspapers gave them that nickname because of all the young players on the team. The Cubs name stuck and became official in 1907.

Regarding Iowa Cubs. This franchise began as the Iowa Oaks in 1969, when they were established as a Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland A's. In 1973, they became affiliated for two years with the Chicago White Sox, and after one year as the Houston Astros' affiliate, they returned to the White Sox in 1976. In 1981 they became affiliated with the Chicago Cubs and changed their name to the Cubs a year later. Today they remain the Chicago Cubs' affiliate in the Triple-A International League.

3. Principal Park
Principal Park in Des Moines is home of the Iowa Cubs, AAA affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. The Iowa Cubs played on this site at a predecessor stadium, called Sec Taylor Park, which was replaced with this current stadium after the 1991 season.
