Excerpt (in translation): On Wednesday, August 23, 1944, the Germans left the Gare de Lyon, taking hostages with them; at 3:45 p.m., when the last car entered Boulevard Diderot, a woman accompanying them pointed out to a soldier the presence of a man on the 6th floor. A gunshot killed Jean Jemini, a chestnut merchant, who was simply watching the procession.(Submitted on September 9, 2024.)
