1. War Memorial
Inscription.
Stone
1944

The West End neighborhood was once called Temperanceville, a separate municipality that was incorporated into the City of Pittsburgh in 1874. This memorial's original stone inscription to all those who served the U.S. in times of war was later given a new facade to pay special honor to the citizens of the West End. Behind the monument stands the third branch of Pittsburgh's Carnegie Library system, which opened in 1899.
