1. Pipestone County Courthouse Marker
Inscription. Completed in 1902, the courthouse is considered by many to be the finest example of Sioux quartzite architecture in the region. The building was designed by George Pass of Mankato and built of local red stone trimmed with pink quartzite from the Jasper quarries. Sandstone and granite pillars adorn the facade, and the clock tower is surmounted by a bronze statue of justice. The courthouse was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
