Traders Hotel. The Traders Building was designed by Columbus, Ohio-based architects Yost and Packard and built in 1894-1895. It was the focus of downtown Clarksburg's social scene in the late nineteenth century. It housed the Traders Hotel, a bank, three lodges, an opera house, and several offices. Tragically, it burned down in 1911. The wood frame structure and gas lighting made it prone to fire.,
Union National Bank. This is a ten-story Renaissance Revival structure built in 1912. The entrance and windows on the first level are flanked by Greek Doric fluted columns. The first level is banded at the top by classical motifs surmounted by a cornice embellished with modillions that cap the building. In later years, Union National Bank took over the Prunty building (built in 1914) as an annex. The Prunty building, a neo-classical design, compliments the bank building.
