"One of the most architectually distinctive buildings and a major focal point of the district, the Calumet Hotel is listed individually on the National Register. The Calumet is a Richardsonian Romanesque style building with a crennellated cornice. The major part of the facade is built of jasper, a light pinkish stone. Sioux quartzite, the darker red stone, is used as trim around the windows foundation and entrances. In 1910 an addition was made to the south end of the building and a fourth story added. Originally a bank and hotel the building is used primarily for apartment rentals."(Submitted on September 12, 2024.)
