Foxglove
Known as Our Lady's Glove or Our Lady's Thimble
During medieval times, the foxglove plant, with its glove-like blossoms, became known as Our Lady's glove or Our Lady's thimble. It is thought the "glove" part of the name is due to the flowers looking like fingers on a glove, which all ladies wore at this time. An old tale passed down through the centuries was that Mary helped earn a living for the Holy family by weaving and sewing.
