1. Henry Tayama Marker
Inscription. Henry Tayama, Class of 1893, was the first Japanese student to graduate from the College. He had been educated in English schools of the Evangelical Association's mission in Tokyo. Upon completing his divinity degree, Reverend Tayama returned to his home country and served as a minister and instructor for the Evangelical Church in Japan. He was later elected presiding elder, the first native-born minister to hold that position.
