The Fairbanks Eagles Aerie No. 1037, the farthest-north Aerie, has a long and colorful history. Organized and chartered in 1905, its original meeting place at First and Cushman was destroyed in the great fire of 1906. In 1908 the Eagles purchased the Century Club Building at Fifth and Cushman, and this served as the Eagles Lodge until 1970. The Lodge was for many years the only place in town where large social events could be staged, and renowned for its beautiful dance floor.
In the 40's a group of women formed the Eagles Ladies Club, which became a formal Ladies Auxiliary in 1946. Today, Aerie No. 1037 continues to grow, and its new, modern lodge at First and Hall remains a center of festivity and camaraderie in the Far North.
Erected by Festival Fairbanks 84 and Fairbanks Aerie No. 1037. (Marker Number 44.)
