FAIRBANKS EVENING NEWS, AUGUST 8, 1906

Perhaps never in the north before, was so unique a party witnessed, as that given at the Fairbanks Natatorium last night, where a banquet with several courses, was served on a floating table in the water. It was given by Mr. and Mrs. D. G. McCarty. Their guests were Mr. and Mrs. Kendricks, D. H. Cascaden, and Mr. and Mrs. McCarty Sr.

The first event on the program was a swimming contest between Mrs. McCarty and Mrs. Kendricks. The long dive was contested for by Messrs. McCartys, senior and junior, and "Dad" won out. D. H. Cascaden gave an exhibition of the high dive, and Mrs. D. G. McCarty gave fancy swimming that elicited applause. The banquet was then served on a floating table in three courses. the pilot; D. A. McCarty, the captain; D. G. McCarty the engineer and fireman, as well as the crew. This caused the spectators to break into roars of laughter. D. A. Mc[C]arty got stuck on a bar and it required some lively work to get him into deep water again.

The McCarty family was among the very earliest residents of Fairbanks along with being one of the wealthiest too.
