Inscription.
The "Mysterious Mr. Raffles" has come to town and it is up to you to find him. He arrived on the last boat and he reported at once to Fred Martin, at the California saloon, his one acquaintance in all Alaska.

The business of the "Mysterious Mr. Raffles" is of such a nature that he must shun all acquaintances. His profession in life is to have people hunt for him and fail to find him. Consequently, there is no one in Fairbanks to who he will make himself known except Mr. Martin - unless you find him - then he will at once admit his identity. Beginning this morning, the "Mysterious Mr. Raffles" will be abroad in Fairbanks early and late. He will seek out the most crowded places and he will mingle freely with the crowds at all times, on the streets, around the court house - everywhere, in fact, where more than the ordinary number of persons congregate during the day.

Story provided by the Fairbanks Igloos of the Pioneers of Alaska.
