The Republic by Jean-François Soitoux
First official representation of the French Republic ordered by the government of the Second Republic at the end of a competition launched on March 18, 1848 - set up in front of the Institute on 24 February 1880. It was restored at the expense of the City of Paris and reinstalled in this place by Jacques Chirac, Mayor of Paris, on September 23, 1992 on the occasion of the bicentenary of the Proclamation of the Republic
