Inscription.
Bucksport’s Alexis B. “Lex” Luce and brothers William and Dustin Farnum played prominent roles in early 20th century American theater on stage and screen. Bucksport residents watched the local stars in movies at the Alamo Theatre.

Built in 1916, the Alamo was Bucksport's local theatre until 1956. It had 600 seats, a motion picture screen, an asbestos-lined projection booth, and a fully rigged stage for live performances Today the building is home to Northeast Historic Film, a nonprofit archive dedicated to collecting, preserving and sharing northern New England's moving image heritage, and hosting films and live performances at the Alamo.

Alexis "Lex" Luce (1884-1968) was best known for his role as "shady gambler Richard Steele" in The Chechahcos, a 1924 American silent film about the gold rush days in the Klondike.

William Farnum (1876-1953) was a star of American silent film and became one of the highest-paid actors during that time. He appeared in more than 140 silent and sound films between 1914 and 1952.
