1. Gale Library Building Marker
Inscription.
Captain Cyrus Gale contributed $10,000 to the start of a public "free" library in 1868. Cyrus Gale Jr., the Captain's son, donated the land and $30,000 for the library building in 1894. The architect was Amos Cutting of Worcester, Massachusetts. The Gale Library was dedicated on June 12, 1895. A large addition to the building was added in 2009.
