Inscription.  German:
Nach 1400 begonnen, Wohnbau des Kurfürst Ruprechts III. (1398-1410), unter dem Namen Ruprecht I. nach 1400 Deutscher König, ältestes Gebäude der Schlossanlage. 1543 das obere, ursprüngliche Fachwerkgeschoss durch eine massiv gebaute Aufstockung ersetzt und im Westen einen Treppenturm angefügt.

English:
Started after 1400, dwelling of Elector Ruprechts III (1398–1410), under the name Ruprecht I, King of Germany after 1400, oldest building on the castle grounds. 1543 the upper, originally lattice storey, replaced by a massively constructed additional storey and a stair turret attached in the west.
