1. Unterer Fürstenbrunnen / Lower Prince's Fountain Marker
Inscription.  German:
1767 unter Kurfürst Carl Theodor (1742-99) in den Fels gebohrte und mit Brunnenhaus überbaute Quelle. Das Innere der Brunnenstube ursprünglich mit Tuffstein, Korallen und Muscheln verziert. Das Trinkwasser von hier in Flaschen gefüllt und mit Fuhrwerken an den Hof nach Mannheim gebracht.

English:
A spring drilled into the rock in 1767 under Elector Carl Theodor (1742-99) and covered with a fountain house. The interior of the fountain parlor was originally decorated with tufa, coral, and shells. Drinking water was filled into bottles and brought to Mannheim with horsedrawn vehicles.

heavily damaged again: this time by the forces of Nature, in the form of two devastating lightning strikes. The once-proud residence caught fire – and was left in ruins.
