1. Wasserkasematte / Water Casemate Marker
Im 15. Jahrhundert entstanden. Teil des östlichen Befestigungsgürtels, mit zwei überwölbten Geschossen, führte im obersten Geschoss Wasser in Rohren vom Königstuhl in den Schlossbezirk, war gleichzeitig im unteren Teil Sperre des Zugangs zum Burggraben.
Built in the 15th century. Part of the eastern fortification, with two vaulted floors, conducted water in pipes in the upper storey from the Königstuhl to the castle district; in the lower section, it was simultaneously the barrier to the moat.

In the late 17th century, the castle was repeatedly attacked and ultimately destroyed by the French in the War of the Grand Alliance. These catastrophic events are commemorated in a spectacular fireworks display, held several times each year. In 1764, after some makeshift repairs, the battered castle was heavily damaged again: this time by the forces of Nature, in the form of two devastating lightning strikes.
