Inscription. The first recorded businesses at this site were a jewelry store and a barber shop in 1907. Liberty Pharmacy was an anchor business on this side of the square for more than 40 years. Liberty Pharmacy began as Derryberry Drugs Store on the north side of the square. The name was changed to Liberty in 1919 and it was moved here to the south side around that time. The store included a soda fountain which featured sandwiches, beverages, and ice cream. In 1967, Liberty Pharmacy moved to the west side of the square. Shipp Photography Studio occupied the space during the 1970s and the Hickman County Court Clerk was located here from the late 1980s until 2010. The Public Defender's Office moved into the building in 2022.
