1. Greenland Lake Marker
Inscription.
Take a moment to stretch your legs on this 200-yard (200 m) one-way trail along the edge of Greenland Lake. The trail ends at a small log cabin built in the 1890s to store salt for cattle, which grazed nearby and drank from this rare waterhole. Today the lake attracts deer, bobcats, wild turkeys, and even the occasional duck.

[Caption]: Discover wildflowers like star Solomon's seal, while walking the short trail.

[Caption]: How Greenland Lake Formed:

1. Mildly acidic groundwater seeped through cracks and joints in the Kaibab Limestone bedrock and dissolved the surrounding rock, creating a cave under the surface.

2. The surface area, lacking support, weakened and collapsed, creating a sinkhole.

3. Silt and clay sealed the sinkhole's bottom, enabling it to hold water.

[Caption]: The salt cabin was built and used by Bar Z cattlemen throughout the grazing season until the establishment of the park early ithe 20th century.
