Regarding Parkway Steps. Established on May 6, 1935 by Presidential Order, the Works Progress Administration employed millions of workers, mostly men not formally educated. The WPA built traditional infrastructure of the New Deal such as roads, bridges, schools, libraries, courthouses, hospitals, sidewalks, waterworks, post-offices and many other community needs.
The Parkway Steps can be accessed going down on Parkway Avenue and going up on North Avenue. They were designated a Pittsburgh Historic Landmark in 2009.
