1. The Investment Building Marker
Inscription.
In 1949, the Investment Building was constructed mid-block along 15th Street North by Arlington contractor M.T. Broyhill & Sons, Inc. Designed by local architect John M. Walton, the Investment Building is a rare remaining example of the modern aesthetic.

International Style
Although the International Style was widely popular nationally in the mid-twentieth century, only a few examples remain in Arlington today. The style is expressed through the building's lack of ornamentation and simple design, such as the smooth limestone panels, horizontal bands of steel windows, and black granite panels that dominate and surround the main entrance.

Architectural Faηadism
The Investment Building was one of the few remaining International Style commercial buildings in Arlington. Its historic faηade was moved to the corner of 15th Street North and North Courthouse Road in 2023. Following the practice of faηadism, the treatment plan developed to document and carefully dismantle the building's historic limestone and granite panel faηade required cataloging the panels and their original locations before removal and transport to an off-site location for cleaning and repairs.
