Excerpt: Construction on the school house was started in 1880 under the School District No. 14. The building was completed in the winter of 1881-1882, with classes being held in the building upon its completion. It continued to educate the youth of Ness County until enrollment surpassed the building's capacity around 1887. At that time the building was repurposed until 1942, when the Ness County Historical Society purchased the building as a museum. It is currently available for viewing by appointment only. Visitors will not be disappointed as it showcases a beautiful collection of educational items used by teachers and students of a bygone era.(Submitted on October 17, 2024, by Cosmos Mariner of Cape Canaveral, Florida.)
