Das Ehepaar Amalie und Theo Pinkus-De Sassi schenkte 1973 das Haus der Stiftung Studienbibliothek zur Geschichte der Arbeiterbewegung in Zürich.
Als Kommunisten vertraten sie einen aufgeklärten Sozialismus. Sie waren von der Wirkung des gedruckten Wortes zutiefst überzeugt.

The couple Amalie and Theo Pinkus-De Sassi donated the building to the Foundation for the Study Library on the History of the Workers' Movement in Zurich in 1973.
As communists, they represented an enlightened socialism. They were deeply convinced of the impact of the printed word.

Excerpt (in translation):

The PINKUS cooperative was a work collective in Zurich's old town and existed between 1971 and 1998. It ran a bookstore, an antiquarian bookshop, a publishing distribution department and a small licensing department. The cooperative was founded by the then owner of the bookstore (Pinkus & Co., founded in 1940), Theo Pinkus (1909-1991). The cooperative had no capital participation. The capital was held by the Foundation for the Study Library on the History of the Labor Movement. In 1997, the cooperative moved from Froschaugasse 7 to Zähringerplatz 15. The following year, the PINKUS cooperative was liquidated.
