1. Elkin & Alleghany Engine 100 Marker

Inscription. E & A Railroad engineer Dallas McCoin stands in the cab of Number 100 after a late winter snow in March 1912. The locomotive is parked on the West Main Street crossing at Front Street. The Gwyn-Foard House is in the background. The first engine for the railroad, it was a Baldwin 2-8-0. This engine survives today at Camp Willow Run in Littleton, NC.
