1. Erastus Dudley House Marker
Erastus Dudley built his house on this location sometime after 1812. He purchased the land totaling 35 acres along with a barn from his brother Loveman shortly after he and his brothers had inherited their grandfather Jared's property.
The base remained on this site until 1856 when it was located a short distance up the street. David Dudley's grandfather helped with the move that involved some twenty team of oxen and relayed the story of the day's work to his grandson David.
The original barn survived until the 1960's when it was dismantled and removed. Today the Manger Barn relocated from Madison sits on the site of the original old barn.
Erastus built the present large farmhouse for himself in 1844. His youngest son Nathaniel and his new wife Sophonia moved into the large house in 1864, caring for Erastus until his death in 1872
