1. Offering all that the Visitors Need Marker
Boothbay House was the oldest among Boothbay Harbor's hotels, dating to the late 18th century. In this view, the steps lead from the spacious front porch toward Commercial Street. In addition to the three-story main building, there were also two attached annexes, one of fourteen rooms. A July 1901 newspaper article describes the hotel as "a healthful and attractive summer home and every provision is made for the care of the guest... All of the public rooms are spacious and their appointments are not only in keeping with the character of the house, but conducive to the comfort of guests as well... The sleeping apartments, also, are airy and comfortably furnished, while the sanitary arrangements are equal to this (sic!) of a metropolitan hotel." The building was demolished in 1963.
