Um 1220/30 entstanden das Lunkhofenhaus (nr. 36) und das Manessehaus (nr. 38) als viergeschossige Steinbauten mit den romanischen Zwillingsarkaden gegen die Limmat. Im 13. und 14. jahrhundert hangwärtige erweiterungsbauten.
1840 gab Hans Ulrich Staub (1780-1852) dem Baukomplex das heutige Aussehen.

Owned by the Wettingen monastery from the 13th century until 1840.
The Lunkhofenhaus (no. 36) and the Manessehaus (no. 38) were built around 1220/30 as four-storey stone buildings with Romanesque twin arcades facing the Limmat. In the 13th and 14th centuries, extensions were built on the slope.
In 1840, Hans Ulrich Staub (1780-1852) gave the building complex its current appearance.
